A log cabin holiday

Hello everyone. I've just returned from a few days' holiday with the mister and the kids. We went to stay in a log cabin in Keldy Forest, near Pickering. So I was secretly glad that there was still snow on the ground to add to the Alpine (ish) experience. It turns out that wooden houses suit me. They are seriously warm and cosy!

As well as walks through the forest (yes, I did tell the kids that the Gruffalo lives there) looking at interesting flora and fauna (hilarious mushrooms aka fungi, Badger sets and erm gnomes) we were also a stone's throw from the coast so we got a bit of sea air too. Oh and I also happened upon a flea market so it seemed rude not to.

The week was greatly assisted by cheese (though sadly not a proper fondue), my lovely snuggly Damart thermals and the new Lana Del Rey album.

We didn't forget Valentine's day either, though I was convinced it really should be Pancake day, by rights. At least that's something to look forward to (*stocks up on lemons and syrup and starts dribbling now).

Hope you've had a good week too my dears. After a week sans internet I'm looking forward to a big catch up on all my favourite blogs.

Bye for now,

Kat x

Here's the week in pix:

    1. I LOVE that you got the Smiths reference on that card (it's ace isn't it?).

Can you tell that my five year old Charlie is well bored of being dragged round charity shops by his mum?

  2. Looks like a gorgeous breakaway. You're cheating at scrabble though, it should be 7 tiles! xx

    1. Ha yeah!Actually that was a little welcome message the owners had set up for us upon arrival. I did try to teach Charlie the basics of Scrabble (and needed a large gin afterwards).

  5. Beautiful post! Looks like a lovely time away. Also, the photography is magical! I was just wondering what camera/editing software you used to make the pictures look so beautiful (the one with the gnomes is my favorite!)? Thanks :)

    1. Thanks Bella. Most of the photos were taken using Instagram, which is an app I use on my iphone. It's really easy and fun - you just take take a phone snap and choose one of the many different filters available that subtley change the appearance of the image. You should try it, it's quite addictive!
